The Prince of Wales Will Participate in UN Climate Conference in South America

The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America in the coming weeks, as confirmed by palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a gathering ahead of the climate summit, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The royal pair were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a pre-COP30 gathering arranged together with the British authorities.

Climate Leadership Dedication

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil preceding the climate conference.

Official representatives have characterized William's involvement at the next COP as assuming an significant responsibility in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were greeted attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.

This engagement included speaking in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.

The UN meeting will align with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the day before he joins the climate conference on 6 November.

Royal Climate Legacy

The King has been a key figure at previous climate summits, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to raise awareness about the existential threats challenging our world over climate change, climate change and ecological decline," the monarch informed participants.
