In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz provided the game-winning go-ahead field goal to seal the ugly win.
Even with recording nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 offensive yards during the entire game.
Nix, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, engineered a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's short kick with just over five minutes remaining.
Despite their dismal offensive display, the Jets maintained the ball with a opportunity to drive for a potential winning score. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of calling on specialist Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
The Jets quarterback struggled throughout, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented following the game.
The running back surpassed 200 yards from scrimmage for the second straight week and rookie Ryan Fitzgerald kicked a game-winning kick as the clock ran out to secure the Carolina Panthers a 30-27 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Los Angeles Rams ended the first half with a goal-line stand and subsequently signal-caller Matthew Stafford guided them to a pair of scores to start the second half in their comfortable victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
The quarterback passed for two scoring throws and Jonathan Taylor scored the go-ahead touchdown with 4:32 remaining, giving the Indianapolis Colts a close victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
Sam Darnold threw touchdown passes to his receiver and Cooper Kupp, and Seattle controlled the trenches on their way to a 20-12 victory.
Aaron Rodgers threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns, and the Pittsburgh Steelers experienced little trouble in their decisive win over the Cleveland Browns.
The quarterback evaded the defensive pressure and found with his receiver for a long catch-and-run in the closing seconds, setting up Cameron Dicker's game-winning field goal to give the Los Angeles Chargers a narrow win.
The quarterback passed for 261 yards and three touchdowns as the visiting New England Patriots defeated the New Orleans Saints 25-19.
